Here are some words to sing over your heart when you’ve lost your way…
I am pioneer.
Do you believe the paths you walk, be it across your kitchen or around the globe, are ordered by God?
Do you believe within your heart is a quietly courageous woman ready to veer off into the unknown and explore the vastness of His heart in a world too afraid to see what might happen if they surrender?
Every morning, I am tempted to sink into the mire of what must be done, to disappear into the background of my busy children, and walk hurried through life with little thought to the purpose waiting to expand beneath me.
It comes out in the way I dutifully complete tasks around my house, strive to finish projects, and feel obligated to manage and maintain it all. I am determined, head down and focused. I carry my relentless capacity to keep going like a gold medal.
Now, these characteristics might round out my resume and make me irresistible to a company, but they won’t position me in the company of pioneers.

When I sit by a fire under the stars, gaze out over eternal ocean waters, get lost in the grandeur of a sunset, or wander through a forest without a plan, I hear my name again. My eyes lift towards horizons I have failed to see, clouds of doubt and fear that have slowly, slyly settled over my soul begin to peel back and I hear His voice.
Hello, pioneer.
The waves, the trees, and the star-lit sky greet me by name, stripping me of all my false identities I’ve taken on. They nudge me to accept the invitation to become what He sees in me, to escape the unnecessary boundaries I’ve built up around myself.
Instead of surrender into the untamed wilderness of a beautiful God as a pioneer, my feet are too often stuck in the safety of specific steps and the lure of sleek success. I’ve been told I need to make a name for myself, stand out, and prove my significance to the world. So, I stay inside the sweaty crowds of people all working towards their small dreams.
But you and I, we are pioneers. We are women who leave behind the rules, break off the constraints, and release control of our life and the outcome of our efforts to God. We don’t wait for someone to send us off, we start where we are and recognize we have more than we need.
A pioneer isn’t determined to merely finish her work efficiently or achieve a goal, instead she is fully engaged in the process, seeing every step as an opportunity. She desires to mine her days for treasures, beauty, and wonder, unmistakable clues pointing her to the grandeur of God’s purpose in her life.
Trekking through life with a clear plan and vision doesn’t satisfy her. As a pioneer, she knows her life can’t be contained on paper or summed up in a few nice statements. She refuses to tie herself to a personality test, her struggles, her season, or even her noble desires.

The spontaneity of the Spirit, the surprising transformations of her own heart, and the deep stirrings within in her are all the proof she needs to join her voice with heaven and declare,
I am a pioneer.
Pioneers may not always know where they are going or if it will turn out as they expected, but they are not limited to a map or held hostage to their comforts, they are guided by His hand.
Even when it feels like you’ve lost your way, realize you’re making a way for others to trust Him too. The winding paths you carve into His heart are creating freedom for her to discover and explore life with a wild God. Your steps become a song over the lives of the women around you declaring,
You are a pioneer.
