“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
– Henry Miller
So, tell me, how do you view your life?
Is it a roller-coaster ride, a whirlwind? Maybe life is a long and lonely road for you, a battle, a confusing mess, or a delightful feast?
What pictures come to your mind?
The perspective we have on life is important. Why?
Have you noticed how it propels your actions, decisions, thoughts, and responses?
Example. For too many years I viewed my life as a purposeless, tiring race, loving people was a checklist, and pleasing God meant doing more church-y stuff.
Eventually, I wanted to give up, stop everything, and fall headlong into depression and self-pity. ( I am forever grateful for fellow pilgrims along the way who didn’t allow me to stay there.)
I also spent many years viewing life as a lurching roller-coaster. I didn’t know who I was or what I was supposed to be doing. Everything felt shaky, so I tried not to rock the boat, to stay safe and comfortable
Both of these perspectives kept me bound up in fear.
Art of Adventure came to be through a series of experiences and a life-altering revelation:
Life is an invitation to adventure, an opportunity to discover the wonder of traveling with a wild God.
Seeing life through this lens changed everything for me.
As a fellow traveler along the way, I want you to receive new eyes too!
I’ve experienced first-hand how much transformation comes when we see life as an adventure with a wild God. Suddenly, His whispers are everywhere, the path below us comes alive with possibility, the wilderness sings a song, childlike faith bubbles up from within, and we greet the unexpected with delight!
And that brings me to this. If life becomes the adventure we all hope it to be, then…
you are a pioneer.
Now wait a sec, before you automatically assume you’re not. We picture the people who take crazy leaps from airplanes, climb soaring mountains, and spend years in foreign lands. We wrongly define adventure as only a single act for the brave and daring few, who have money, passports, and no kids!
But I believe in the heart of every woman, that’s you and me, beats a desire for adventure with God, to live outside your comfort zone, find beauty in risk, and champion others to do the same.
So, what if you looked in the mirror and saw yourself as a pioneer?
It’s true. Your soul was created to travel with a wild God! You are one who seeks perspective from new places, gathers wonder from the grandeur of His glorious creation. And you also know the secret to staying rooted in Him, exploring the depths of His heart, and His presence within your ordinary days.
What would happen if you decided to see your life as an adventure, to come alive to the path beneath your feet and say YES to His mysterious invitations, to walk in your identity as a pioneer, charting paths into the unknown, giving your faith legs to run free?
Stop waiting and come with me down the trails and into the backcountry, give yourself permission to travel with a wild God!
It’s time to welcome it all- the mountains and the valleys, the beautiful vistas and the ugly messes, to see every detail as a thousand opportunities to move deeper into the beauty and goodness of God…adventure is here.
Do you see it?
